Thanks Re-tyred that’s very helpful information,
Hopefully the weather is kind when we are there and I’ll certainly put some time in.
Or else I’ll have to do “touristy” things and hold shopping bags and generally look miserable :(

Only kept a handful. We burlied hard for shark but no good on that front. Slimies were thick as thieves!!!

I wouldn’t say it was well done. Ended up traveling 100ks outside for that. Plan was to head wide trying a new mark than burly for a mako. New Mark was rubbish and The weather had other ideas so headed in close to burn up the burly for no sharks. But the flathead went crazy on it

Fair effort Hosery, must be fun when you do get on to a real shark.
What do you do with the catch ? Or just release ?
Thanks for the report,

Yeah I more enjoy seeing a shark just around the boat. Gets the blood pumping. Most of my catch comes home and just divide it up with who comes plus alway take a feed to my mum and inlaws. But lately my freezer is loaded so no need to bring much back. Fish for the future.

Hosery, nice. Are different species better on the chew ?
I have only caught gummies because 1 they taste great 2 that’s whats on offer in my home patch - Port Phillip Bay.
Do you always have to use wire trace to catch the toothy ones ?

Went out today from Lakes, launched at 4:30, the weather was beautiful not even a wave at the inlet. Prawns everywhere in the shallows on the way out. Didn't venture too far from the inlet, only about 2 Kim's south in 18m. Heaps of slimeys which were used as bait.
Between us we must have pulled up 20 baby sharks, not sure which ones, they definitely had teeth, maybe mako ?
My number 1 decky got a hammerhead just over a meter, still a baby. All sharks released.
Heaps of good size flatties, from 40-47cm. Took some for a feed.
On the way back we saw a boat washed up on the north side beach to the inlet.
We went over to check from outside the breakers but the boat appeared abandoned.
Radioed coastguard and they knew about it.
Shame, looked like about a 7m glass hard top with twin big yammies.
Earlier this week a trawler was washed up on the beach too.
It's all happening at Lakes.
