bit late but hopefully will help someone in the future
i was at Raymond Island / Paynesville at the start of the year and the only place i was able to catch a decent bream was around the jetty
there is heaps of them on Raymond island. Just walk up each jetty and look under the jetty and boats till you see a big school of bream. Once you do quietly chuck a small prawn on a unweighted line in and wait. I only found this out on the last night and was able to pull out a couple huge fish in around half hour and then another one in the morning before we left the island.

We had a good time down there - see my report from a couple of weeks back.
The only fish landed was a small tailor. Did come across a monster leatherjacket under a small jetty, but it was too wily to be caught.
Mike.
