Yes there has been number of Makos , Tuna and other stuff out in the canyon.
This was farout charters yesterday. He has had a few goes, finally paid off.
From what I can work out, 3-4 trips without getting a sword is the average. I think everyone has a lot to learn about this fishery

There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

Re: Swordfish out of Lakes Entrance
That's incredible. I've heard a lot of rumours recently about fish caught off the shelf, good to see pics to prove it
Would be nice having the gear capable of going out there... one day

Re: Swordfish out of Lakes Entrance
Swordfish have a fast growth rate.
From George Lirantzis facebook page.
"After the capture of Maxs 347kg & Charlie's 210kg swordfish a few weeks back, Stan Konstantaras & Chris Anagnostou from ANSA NSW suggested I get involved in some citizen science & donate some of the swordfish heads of our recent captures to have the Otoliths bones of these fish aged.
I delivered the heads to Sydney & Chris then passed them on to Julian Hughes Lab to be aged and 2 weeks later we have some awesome results!
The 347kg fish was 18 years old.
The 210kg fish was 8 years old.
A 8kg fish was under 1 year old. "

Re: Swordfish out of Lakes Entrance
Great fishing and great science. Re-tyred - it is great to be involved like that and be able to forward the fish for great data like that.
