Hello all..I am going to Mallacoota for a few days Friday and want to chase a few Kingys outside...I have never fished offshore there before.
Should I be hitting up Tallaberga or Gabo islands or is another spot the go for the Kingfish?.
Will hit the lake up as well for a feed of duskys hopefully.
Any help on the offshore aspect would be appreciated..cheers.

Re: Offshore Mallacoota
Hi Webby, was there in January and there were Kings at the star banks, although its a bit of a drive in the boat. Water temp around Gabo wasn't warm enough at the time. If they are there you will be able to find out around town where exactly or just check out the boat ramp one day and chat to people cleaning/coming back in.
Otherwise I would probably head out around Gabo, worst case you end up fishing for flatties / gummies and hopefully get a few.
Good luck, look forward to the reports

I'd head to the islands, water should've warmed up by now. Star banks like mentioned is a hike and VERY exposed should the weather turn. Atleast with the islands, it's only half the distance than star banks

report from my mate who lives down there is that they finally started feeding at coota yesterday off gabo. previously they had been schooled up around the betka river mouth but wouldn't feed. he said they went nuts on the surface
