Portsea backbeach

Post by BigJ » Sun Mar 09, 2014 10:17 pm

Went to Portsea Bakbeach and parked in the lower car park. Looked for gutters and the only one that I could see was right in front of the stairs. So I set up there at about 4pm. It was biting hot until about 6:30pm. Died of abit after that. When the babies came in. Bought 3 salmon and 2 mullet home. Threw back about another 20-25. Lost a couple of big ones as saw them in the last waves, and they were jumping at top of wave, lost them when the wave broke onto the beach. Left at 8pm as was getting dark and biting had slowed down. Forgot the torch and headlamp in the car, otherwise I would have probably stayed another hour or 2 And thrown some fresh baits out for Gummys.
It was a great 4hr session.
Did have a 2nd surf rod rigged up but couldn't get that in the water as they were biting as soon as the bait hit the water. All fish we're catch on Bluebait and Pipis.
