Fishing Easter Saturday and Sunday from Capel Sound (aka West Rosebud)
Saturday Morning 6am to first light drifted for squid for 10 medium to large models and one large cuttlefish. Tried the Hurricane wreck for one keeper pinky and loosing baits to undersize pinkys. Headed out to Mt Martha deep for 1 keeper flathead and zero snapper runs. Went back in close and tried 3 Whiting spots for donuts except for 2 red mullet.
Sunday night headed out to wreck for only one keeper pinky after 3-4 moves. Headed back in closer and got 4 squid, one baby and 3 medium to large models.
Great boating weather, average fishing to very poor if it wasn’t for the ever reliable squid. How did others go down southern ppb area.

Launched Sunday from Rye...
Deliberately took no bait as I wanted to work the zman soft plastics and wasn't looking for any keeper fish.
Caught donuts...
I will change my setup for soft plastics and give them another go as I am sure it was me...

Lots of guys coming in empty handed from rye and tootgarook at the moment. Theyve been trying for all kinds of fish ranging from kingies to whiting.
Only people with smiles are the guys fishing for squid. Not huge models but plenty of them.
