Went for a fish yesterday with my little cousin to blow the cobwebs out of the boat. Launched from Sorrento to glass like conditions.
Absolutely beautiful day on the water but very tough going.
Started off getting a few squid straight out of Rye. Once we got some squid we went to the heads to have a snoop around. Nothing much going on but surfers riding the waves..
Tried a couple different spots off Sorrento for some Whiting but was only picking up rubbish. I kept moving further up until we got to a spot in Rye.
After a couple moves we got a few whiting. All around the 38cm mark.
It was a tough day with only a few fish but still an awesome day on the water. Conditions couldn't have been better.
Cheers, Anth

sure soes sound like a good day, and to top it off you got into some fish as well.
where do you guys fish for squid near rye / portsea areas
ive seen a few videos of squid fishing where they are in deeper water off sorrento etc.
im looking to target some of the bigger squid that visit the area this time of the year

Pretty much everywhere produces squid. All along the beaches in around 4-8m of waters. there is heaps of good whiting/squid ground all along the coast from rye to sorrento and further. Just look for the grass beds and drops offs.purple5ive wrote:sure soes sound like a good day, and to top it off you got into some fish as well.
