Tootgarook 17th April

Post by brucey1 » Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:59 am

Got on to a hot bite of Whitting on Easter Monday in weedbeds off Tootgarook. Had to leave them bitting when I bagged out in just over an hour of arriving. Couldnt keep 2 rods in the water. Bait used fresh aero squid tenderised and fresh cuttlefish. I only used the main soft tenticle of the cuttlefish before bagging out. Was using circle K1 hooks and just moved between rods bringing them in. Unbelievable session. Most were 35+ cm with several hitting 40cm. Big and fat and fought hard. Thought I might add the pics.... enloy!

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Tootgarook ramp is in good order at the moment but closes for the season by the end of this month. It has two ramps but limited parking when busy. Great for boats up to 6.5mt. Is dredged til half way out to deeper water, a few sandbars to navigate but great ramp as close to weed beds for squid and tings and sth channel etc....
