Its literally a 2 min drive. I live down the other end towards the back round about on ocean beach road. Really trying to suss this place out before I try elsewhere. Realised that pinkies come on right before sunset but generally they are too small. Always aim to fish 2 hours either side of high tide and aim for evening. First time I've got squid so I think I think I worked out I wasn't letting the jig get anywhere near the bottom and that's why I haven't caught them before. Besides that haven't seen much else taken off the pier while I've been there.

Yea mate when squiding you gotta let the jig sink. If I lived that close I would be there every day I reckon lol

Yeah that's what I figured I was doing wrong. I didn't wanna get snagged so think I was retrieving it too quick and not letting it get down deep enough in the water. I try to get down there at least 1-2 times a week just gotta keep the misses happy first :)

Use heavier line so you can just rip the jig out if it gets caught up in the weed. The squid aren't fussy, they'll smash it even if you're using 20-30lb line if they're in the mood.

Yeah the misses is into fishing but she used to go out as a kid with her old man on his boat. Now he doesn't have a boat and nor do I and her philosophy is you don't catch **** off a pier... Well I'm finally starting to prove her wrong :) When I get a boat one day I'm sure she will always come out with me.

Thanks for the tip 4liters have lost a few jigs there is definitely some reef off Sorrento Pier.
