Blairgowrie pier 9/2

Post by dezza68 » Tue Feb 09, 2016 7:08 pm

Had a couple of hours free so had a crack at the pier today. Not fished it before but there was a whole heap of inkstains so must be plenty of squid coming in. I put one bait on the bottom and floated another. Lots of typical small fish bites and a strengthening breeze made fishing difficult but eventually I got a solid bite and hooked up this chap.

I couldn't get through the pickers on the bottom and the side wind was making the float drift too quickly. I tried the float set over depth so the lead was bouncing on the bottom and dragging the leader behind it. This slowed up the drift and I started getting better bites. I caught 5 more LJ's and then picked up my first float fished whiting.

A couple of minutes later I thought I had another whiting but it came flying out of the water, cracking little salmon.
Good little session in less than ideal conditions.
Cast, catch and put it back
