Arrows kill anything else in their path. Put only them in a tank and soon enough they'll have a go at each other.
The hooks aren't so bad unless you have ultra soft hands, but the beak is like being repeatedly kicked in the balls

You can eat them. I had a crack at them after jigging up a heap on knife jigs offshore. But they are a pain in the arse to skin and aren't as tender as calamari. Still edible though.

I soaked mine in crushed kiwi fruit for half an hour before prepping it.

Yeah. The tentacles I don't recall being too bad. Then again, if you ask ducky I'm usually too afraid to hold any fish I catch hahahaha

I was explaining to a mate how arrow head squid can rotate their head 360 degrees I had it in my hand gripped behind its head like I do for calamari I held it a little to long and it rotated its head and it bit me the bite feels like a cockatoos bite. I agree I don't think that they taste as good as calamari

Nice bag Dougie. I've been bitten once by an arrow squid. Luckily he was no bigger than my pinkie so didn't break the skin.

I believe a lot of squid sold as Calamari is Arrow Squid. So yes you can eat them.

Love catching arrow squid they are super fun.

Re eating them almost identical to southern calamari you have to eat them side by side to notice the difference.

No comparison between arrow and calamari, calla's is by far the better eating, at Vic market arrow's are $6.50 a kilo, cala's any where between $15 and $ 19 depending the time of year, the price says it all, I always by the arrow's for bait. I can certainly tell the difference, they don't need to be side by side.
