Land base bellarine peninsula report today

So went for drive with the family down to bellarine peninsula, was ale to duck out to the pier for a hour while LIL n mum played at park got a few squid.

Wasted 20 minutes catching tiny tommy rough all thrown back... there was a lot bigger zebra pattern fish swimming under the small tommy rough,, anybody got any idea what they could be

Nice squid bowl :thumbsup: - the fish you saw would have been zebra fish, similar to luderick but hard to catch on rod + reel apparently. I've caught a couple though.

Are you willing to share the location? I'm heading down that way on Sunday and might try for a squid or two.

St leonards pier , could see one squid chasing my jig early on in my session ,but would only folloe jig,but was on dusk they got hungry..got 3 in 5 mins then it was home time.pilly colour jig.

No idea cbf measuring them,prob on small side id guess ,but wayer was clear n could sight the squid n there some bigger ones around.

Yeah, Super Clear water atm, at frankston can see the bottom in 4 meters of water clear as day.

Thanks, might give it a go after fishing the Barwon Sunday arvo.

Id say the bottom one ..they looked fairly big think they eat sea weed ..vegetarian
