Olivers Hill Calamari

Post by mattsoccerfish » Mon Dec 09, 2013 9:04 am

Hey all, Went fishing on Saturday after all that rain at Olivers Hill not expecting to catch much. Went out at around 4:00 pm and headed to Olivers hill from Patterson River ramp. After the short ride ended up at the spot surrounded by 5 boats. I put on the Yamashita Egi Oh Q Live ( R07 ) at the start and straight away on the first drift i caught 3 nice Calamari. With the water being very foggy looking i wasn't expecting to catch many calamari but with the Yamashita Egi Oh Q Live's Warm Jacket feature the squid couldn't resist. After a couple of drifts i switched over to the Yamashita Egi Sutte-R ( SES ) to see how it worked and straight away it was working a treat, at one stage i had the jig just in the water and a calamari came up from 3 meters to get it! After a while i switched over to a Yamashita Watermelon style squid jig, First cast and i hooked a nice one which started pulling a bit of drag, got it to the boat and turned out to be a nice one with a hood length of 30cm.
Great session on the Calamari, for just a one hour session ended up with 24 calamari.

To see the full range of these jigs check out http://www.ejtodd.com.au/Yamashita_v2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or like Yamashita Australia on Facebook

I recommend these jigs to any Calamari Fisherman.

Regards
Matthew

Just add salt and pepper one of my favourite meals and you got plenty well done.
