I’ve caught a couple on one, but they were smashing anything at the time. With the hand line, maybe just try the spike with a big float set up, maybe easier than trying to jig with hand line. Throw a whiting on the spike and you should land one at least, if they’re around.

Can clearly remember when JW 'razorback' jigs made their way into tacklestores and Kmart when they hit the shelves in Australia some 20 years ago. The original razorbacks came in either super shiny red foil belly and 'pearl'(multi-coloured) belly.

These jigs were marketed as being more effective than the regular jigs because squid were said to grab their prey around the body rather than the tail. Hence the 'razorback' would result in higher catch rates or so the story goes.

It was around this time that the 'Calamari killer' and 'Squid Terminator' jigs shapes were introduced to the Australian market. Previous to this, people were limited to regular cloth yo zuri prawn shape jig or the monotone cigar shaped jig.

Hey Jason.

How old are you?

Reason - i can spare you something you can use but if you are a young lad, you need to bring your guardian, sign consent firms, etc. Etc. before we can meet up. LOL

I just gave away my old Sephia AU 762 last week to a young bloke in Morno pier. He was using half a rod squidding. I might as well reduce my inventory and give you a set or two or three..... :-P
