Eging Reel - Daiwa Exist or Shimano Stella FI

Post by MK10 » Tue Aug 01, 2017 10:22 pm

I'm trying to select my next eging reel (and rod for that matter) and I'm finding it difficult to choose between the Stella and Exist. I've owned products from both manufacturers over the years and have found both quite durable, however, I've not owned either of these higher end models.

Any advise would be appreciated...............oh, and recommended size.

Cheers,

Both reels are top of the line, simply toss a coin. You can't go wrong with either reel, enjoy the reel you pick, it will be awesome.

p.s. 2500 size.

Shimano Ci4 3000 or Daiwa Emeraldas 2508PE- DHsize both perfect for squid.

You must be planning to do some serious bait collecting.

Not really! I simply get a great deal of enjoyment chasing these guys on jigs. Oh, and my family and I really enjoy eating them.

Other than the price difference, is the quality and performance of these two products comparable? I do have the slightly older Emeraldas 2508PE-H. Is the dual handle version that much better?

Dual handle just means there's less hunting for the knob to wind, and slightly better weight balance.

I'd be getting the rod first, then choosing whatever reel balances right, whether it's a Stella, Exist, Emeraldas, Certate, Stradic etc. No point buying a 2500 Stella only to find it's feels like arse on a now very tip heavy outfit because you never get your money back if you sell

I have the older model without dual handels.

Both are excellent reels for the application. The Ci4 is slightly lighter where as the Emeraldas is slightly stronger and more durable.

I personally would not hesitate to buy another Ci4+ 3000 for squid.
