Micro squid jigs from Japan
Just came back from Japan and bought a few of these. 20c coin for size. Anyone ever used them before and do they work here?

The ones on the left are called "Chibi ika" which translates to mini squid. The ones on the right are called "chibi ebi" which translates to mini shrimp.
Probably gonna give them a go next week on the little squid around mornington

Re: Micro squid jigs from Japan
I use these to collect squid for bait. I make a sabiki rig out of them. so I have 2 or 3 on a line with around 30cm in between each jig and then a sinker at the bottom and use them exactly like you would a sabiki rig.

They are also good when you're fishing for whiting. make up a double paternoster rig, Hook on the bottom for the whiting and the top dropper put one of those small jigs on. You'll be surprised how many squid you pick up in between the whiting.

Re: Micro squid jigs from Japan
I tried them out at Mornington where people were bagging out on tiny squid. Didn't get touched, except i did feel a few bites from fish.
I had them on a paternoster rig. Tried for about 30mins while left and right of me were catching non stop, then gave up switched to a normal 2.5 jig and got a few.
Might need to give them another try. The website does say they are for offshore so i dont know if they work off a pier. The way they sink tells me squid wont like them. The hook side sinks first whereas my usual jigs sit horizontal, head sligtly pointed down

I reckon i need to try them again either without a sinker or more distance between the jig and sinker. Will give them another go and let you know how it goes
