Re: Berley For Squid
I don't believe the squid themselves are attracted to berley but you may be attracting fish of the size the squid like to eat and by consequence, the squid. Good catch all the same. I usually drift for squid so I don't berley but I imagine it could work when at anchor.

Correct, squid can't smell, so unless they can taste the berley, it does nothing to attract them.skronkman wrote:I don't believe the squid themselves are attracted to berley but you may be attracting fish of the size the squid like to eat and by consequence, the squid. Love your posts Dennis, you have a very unique approach to the fish you target, and seem to do very well to boot! Love hearing things people do that are out of the norm

Re: Berley For Squid
I think you can berley for squid I mostly drift and work my jigs. But when fishing for whiting i always have a jig out under a float. The japs make squid attractant sprays both smell and colour.

Re: Berley For Squid
Agree with this wholeheartedly. Some squid "pro's" say burley is a waste of time. But burley definitely fires up other fish and I believe you're likely to attract squid as they are chasing their own food.Brett wrote:Correct, squid can't smell, so unless they can taste the berley, it does nothing to attract them.skronkman wrote:I don't believe the squid themselves are attracted to berley but you may be attracting fish of the size the squid like to eat and by consequence, the squid.
