Squid at night come into shallow water to feed then go back to deeper water when it starts getting light?

I've certainly seen and caught quite a few squid in the shallows (30-90cm deep) when spotlighting.
Most have been smallish (around 15-20cm hood-size).

Not sure how shallow you are talking about but I have caught squid in 6 feet of water during the day in the past. I guess they would come in pretty shallow like any fish during low light or night.

I never had any luck in the darkness. Only got a few on just light in 1 mt of water. Mainly get them in 2 to 3 mt of water during light hours
