Mt.Martha, where was high tide???

Post by nhillboy » Sat Mar 02, 2013 12:08 pm

Fished Martha rocks 5pm - 10pm with only action 8-9pm otherwise quiet. Water very calm and barely a breeze. What still has me confused is what happened to high tide at 6.35pm. By 8pm it was one of the lowest low tides i have seen there. Would have gone to Brighton with my mate George if i had of known Martha was going to screw me. Landed and released 6 flathead 27-29cm and 2 banjos. The whiting rig baited with pipi again got me a pinky at 31cm......

My lone pinky 31cm

Too bloody calm, yet blowing hard in Metro Melbourne.

Fish not come to the party or biting early so i had a bite and started my own party,lol...

Wednesday's dinner of pan fried pinkys and flathead.

Nice catch. Eating in style , caviar and crackers ! ..lol.
The hight tide probably wasn't that high due to the moons lunar cycle going through 'apogee' at the moment, which results in lower high tides.
Cheers mate, Rick.

George is putting me to shame at the moment. Have put an update on his Friday night session. Yep , next Friday I must hit the breakwall for a fish. And yes I love my tarama dip.

Thanks Rick. About the lunar cycle I was thinking similar to you. Was strange to see the water so low.

Wednesdays dinner looks nice!

Should've ripped out the squid jigs mate, would've been perfect weather for it!
