If u're not after squid, strong sw winds and high tide, dawn or dusk of course. Good luck.

Hi Nato, if you are after Garfish calm conditions and when the sun is up say 9am if in the morning. If you want pinkys or salmon 20 knot SW at least and it doesn't matter high or low tide. The difference in high/low tide is usually only half a meter. It does make a difference though if only say 15 knots (high tide only) . As garfish said dawn or dusk best times. Pilchards, calamari and blue bait best to use mainly on 1/0 hooks. Take some wet weather gear if you want to stay dry also....Good luck...

For me ideal conditions at Mt.Martha, probably a bit scary for others.

Why you need wet weather gear. Mainly when casting and landing fish.

thanks for the reply guys and great info! seems as though you need the wind blowing hard to bring the fish in at this spot. the last time i went rock fishing was at punchbowl in 30 knot southerly and was a bit hairy with the whole ledge getting smashed and almost getting swept in, so im a bit nervous now for rock fishing in high wind.
i think i want to check out the place on a calm day as a first timer down there. can you catch squid and Kg there when its calm? thanks

I won't go if it is 30 knots or more. You pretty much have to fish from the top of the cliffs, not very comfortable or practical with the wind smashing into you.
Calm days are good for Gars and KGW. You can also scope the area from the cliff top to see where best to fish.
