Late report - Mornington boat hire last week

Went with mates to Mornington and hired a tinnie 6:30am and fished for 5 hrs.
Incoming tide, barely got wind blowing, glass like, cloudy, water wasn't super clear but clear enough (can't see the squid jig deeper than 1.5m-2m).
Went out and to the left side, past the point, drifting.

The morning was productive, got a decent squid on harimitsu RR 3.0 on first cast, then the others caught a few on lumo banana, plain black, yellow. My blue infeet rod worked well to act as a squid rod as it has regular parabolic action similar to squid rods.

We changed various sized and colours and caught pretty much on them all. When they're on, they're on.
Few times we just left the the rods on the holders and left the squid jig there in about 1.5-2m down, and they grabbed the jigs.

Tried various plastics too, from zman slim swimz to various gulps on 1/8 jig head. Few undersized pinkies, flatties, wrasse, red mullet, etc. Some were legal and mates wanted them for the table.

4 of us we landed about 20+ squid, and few fish.
The smallest fish I caught gave the biggest smile and the loudest laughs :rf:
4 inch fish caught on a 3 inch gulp shad with 1/8 jighead #1 hook. Haha.
