11/3/2018 report

Post by Lightningx » Mon Mar 12, 2018 11:53 am

Yesterday the missus and I took a drive down to Mornington, and while we were there went to check out Mornington pier.
The place was absolutely packed. The guy next to me got one and as he was putting it in a bag an old guy came and casted straight into his spot.
I managed to get one too but then next cast a guy from the other side casted into my spot and tangled my line and after another tangle was enough for me so we decided to leave which turned out to be a great decision.

We quickly headed to another spot not far from there where in the past we have done well with much bigger size squid.
Arrived at around 6:30 and stayed till around 8 and in that time we managed 17 squid between us. Had to leave them biting as we didn't bring our headlights for after dark

Will be giving some to the family and am also looking forward to a good feed of fresh calamari myself!

well done man good haul there.
and yeah mornington can be like that when the squid are on, they dont give a fcuk about line tangles and just cast on you line.
pro tip for mornington if you catch one, move to a different spot asap unless you want line tangles

 Excellent going mate. Gotta hate those grubs that cast where your fishing though, turned into a win so all good in the end. :a_goodjob:

Cheers Steve.
Yea I won’t be going there for awhile that’s for sure. If it’s squid I’m after I know of much better spots that are a lot quieter with better size ones too.

Morno sux.
A few years back I took my daughter there & we had people pushing in front & tangling. Some couldn’t even speak Ingrish (or pretended not too) :(
I very rarely LB fish anymore because of this rubbish.
Since going kayak fishing which is now 99.99% of the time I catch more, enjoy it more & get less idiots bothering me or taking my spot.
My Fav LB spot is off the rocks south of Morno
Awesome Haul there mate, that’s good eating there :a_goodjob:
