Mornington Pier, destruction!
I hope the engineers, get their but kicked for this, or the contractor. Something certainly needs to be done.

Re: Mornington Pier, destruction!
Now is about the time they should own up that it's been under-engineered or contractors pocketing cash instead of adequate materials etc. or a mix of both.
Mornington pier is now pathetic. How was it something past it's used by date could handle conditions like yesterday. A new fancy piece of **** is exactly that, a gold plated piece of **** that can't handle any sort of rough weather with continual breakages

Re: Mornington Pier, destruction!
breakwall is going to affect the way the pier fishes.
and the older pier didnt have those wave breakers under them, so the effects of the storm werent as bad.
not siding anyone here, but yeah they should have done a better job, this is the second season since its been open, and like last time suffered damage.
good luck to mornington council ratepayers, cause they are the ones footing the bill

Boardwalk style? The water hitting the boards from underneath will rip those things apart. Who designed that thing?

Re: Mornington Pier, destruction!
Hope they kept the receipt
Maybe they can build a break wall and have a pier built onto the sheltered side so there's something that can survive storms without changing the fishing too much
