Good couple of days!

Post by DougieK » Fri Apr 15, 2016 12:12 pm

Quick pair of reports.

Having cracked the royals poops with uni I decided to hit some squid last night with the Caddy on a rock ledge near Mornington. Just after dark skipped to Mornington harbour and fished dougie's secret spot there just off the concrete pontoon next to the boat ramp. He bloody well outfished me 8-7 on squid and also got a pair of pinkies.

We accepted forum mod Poodoo's challenge to try and get a squid on fly gear, despite hooking a couple I coudln't keep enough tension in the line to land one.

Battled the fog and found myself in the serene isolation of a misty Gunnamatta dawn. Bumped into forum member Andrew (didn't catch your username, sorry). Ended up with a nice little 45cm salmon about a one kg. Dropped two more. First drop was a very good fish.

Not any huge fish or anything exceptional but thought i'd slap a report up cos i haven't posted one for a couple of weeks.

Squidding on fly rod is the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Unless you've bought a japanese multi taper egifly for a white guy rod.

Can't believe to money you blokes waste on gear. Lel

Nice outing is the squid for bait or a feed?

cam's got a fly rod anyway....i just tied a 1.5 size jig onto the end of whatever the setup is. It's not pretty and my casting is dreadful, but the squid are literally only 5 metres away. Pretty sure i'ts a trout setup.

aaaaand i typed that before I read who posted it and realised you're probably joking.

Squid are baits Raul, going for some LBG tomorrow.

Nah it's cool as all hell as a novelty. Cut down a whiting spike and use some lead tape/feather to make a genuine squid fly. Would be pretty sweet to nail one.
