I hooked two of them but quite honestly have cast a fly rod once before and that was just ******* around at tongue point one day. The spot we fish is elevated and really not that hard to hook up on. Reckon I could probably get it right next go.

A few guys on another forum target them a bit, and others have got them as bycatch. Some use jointed flies with a crown at the back but the most common seems to be small shrimp imitations with 3 barbless single hooks setup in a similar fashion to a treble.

I hope you got some strange looks when you chucked the squid jig on the fly rod.

Now what sort of fly do you use for squid? Think the salmon on the fly would be more fun though.
