Mornington Pier last night - 22 Feb

Post by ChrisD » Tue Feb 23, 2016 9:10 am

Spent two and a bit hours fishing the lower part of Mornington pier this evening.Baby squid as bait and threw some squid jigs. Not a sign of a squid all session and the baby squid got a few bites but nothing that hooked up. Watching round the pier not alot else was happening for anyone. Rain started to get a bit heavy so throw in the towel before I got soaked. Overall was a quiet night down there, plenty of people fishing but we had plenty of room which was nice. Always dread being on piers and being shoulder to shoulder.
Will hopefully make another trip there at some stage soon and hopefully have a bit better luck.

I guess it was just one of those days. Next time try some pichards as bait as well.

I have fished there 3 times in 2 weeks and picked up 1 sweep, no other bites and no squid, used pilchards, squid & pippies.

I have driven past and stopped to have a look at the action on my way back from Mount Martha a few times over the past couple of weeks and didn't see much going on there either.

From what I can make out seems it is one of those spots that is either on or off........and every visit I have made has been an off....
Well this is now my third, in a row, fishless trip for 2016, the other two were to the Yarra.......going to have to put a stop to these fishless trips fast.
Think I will going looking for some bream in the city later this week.
