Pics or it didn't happen. Bahahaha :icon_lolz:
Not sure if it is similar to the 'Defence' related site I work in but no cameras allowed! You may have to settle for a sketch of the fish! :-D

shaunsbaginout Quote: yeah head to crib point, go in the navey base turn left follow it all the way, through the round about follow all the way till u hit the cemetary park there then walk down the golf course on the other side of cematary walk down about 400 meters on ya left u will see walking tracks made by us fishers u should start to see the water go off the rocks, best spot i think u can land base fish whiting, flathead, samon.eaphalent fish, mullaway, mullet, trevally, mate top spot good luck let me no how u go cheers mate.

Hey could you send a map picture of the location you fish as I tried to figure out where (route) you were taking! the cemetary seems to be to far from the water and not close to the navy base at all from where the water is! it is however a large grey patch so i am finding it difficult locating the hot spot!

furthermore i am going tonight to tackle gummy shark with a nice fresh salmon as bait i caught off gunnamatta 2 weeks ago :)

Before everyone goes mental when confronted... Fishing inside Hanns Inlet and Hanns channel is highly illegal. Whether by boat or landbased it is classified as trespassing and believe me they take it seriously. The cadets may not care, but higher up get pretty pissed at fishers wasting their time. So by all means go fish there if you want, but if security or navy personal do come up asking you to leave do so without fuss unless you want a loaded rifle in your back escorting you out and a criminal charge. And yes it's happened before

The base also has a live firing range so wouldn't want to walk into the wrong area either :2guns:

Just an important update regarding fishing at HMAS Cerberus, Westernport:

Both the Navy base and surrounding waters are off limits to the public.

Fishing Victoria has recently been in communication with a Sub Lieutenant from RANR, HMAS Cerberus:
I'm seeking your assistance in informing your followers and fishing
enthusiasts about the rules and restrictions of accessing waters
surrounding HMAS Cerberus for fishing.

There are several posts on your forum from 2013 discussing fishing at
Cerberus, encouraging others to use the area and providing directions to
locations that some members have found to be ideal fishing spots. These
posts aren't recent, however fisherman are regularly attempting to fish in
the area.

HMAS Cerberus is a Navy establishment and the waters surrounding it are
also Commonwealth property and listed as Naval Waters. Both the Navy base
and surrounding waters, even those accessible through the Defence housing
area, are subject to Commonwealth law and off limits to the public.

Those areas are out of bounds and signposted accordingly and trespasser
will be prosecuted. The area is patrolled and those found in breach should
be aware that the matter will be referred to civil police for action.

Your site has a substantial following and is respected as an authority on
fishing in Victoria. If you could place a notice advising your members that
Cerberus and it's waters are Commonwealth property and accessing them may
mean prosecution, that may assist in discouraging fishing enthusiasts from
taking the risk or ignoring signage.
