Tyabb bank Tommorow??
Guys,
with a NNW forecast for the whole day almost, i was thinking of heading down to Tyabb bank to get away from the wind and have a quick fish for some squid.
not having been there before, how close to land can you actually fish there on a High tide/dropping to low.
PPB is probably a No go zone for me tommorow, so this is the only option to stay out of the wind and be in some calm waters as im taking dad with me.
cheers

It's a very long shallow sloping bank until around 4m deep so you're a fair way off land by that depth. Chop will be minimal anyway if launching at Warneet. Other advantage to up the top is if the squid don't play your normal targets with fins do get around the weedbeds and mangroves in the area

Ahhh bugger. So.looks like ill be in the wind by then anyway..
I was going to launch at hastings. Cause i have a pass for that ramp.
Anywhere else you can recomend that will be out of the wind along hastings side.
Dont really care what we catch tbh. But some nice squid or pinkies etc would be good.

Low tide the run up would be fine if you hug the bank and land provided there's more than a tiny bit of west in it. High tide you're exposed though any which way you go around Hastings. If worse came to worse there are squid, pinkies, whiting, trevs etc in Hastings channel itself and the bight never gets to uncomfortable to fish it

Thanks man.
Is the hastings channel the channel we have to travel to get out from the ramp?
Or the main channel that the ramp channel meets up with.
I hope that makes sense lol.

And can you anchor up and fish anywhere in it? Im guessing to the side somewhere so people can pass safely
Dont want to do the wrong things and **** people off..

Anywhere off to the side, troll under electric power or anchor up. A lot of people do it so no one should be pissed off

Re: Tyabb bank Tommorow??
Thanks for the tips.
Ended up going to mornington. And got smashed by the choppy conditions. Only one other boat at the ramp.
Got a few pinkies and a flathead for our efforts

I went out Saturday morning from Warneet and tried Quail bank for squid but no takers. Ended up coming after just over an hour as the chop was pretty unpleasant and the rain was coming.
