Only me.. haha!

Post by MsShimano » Mon Mar 13, 2017 1:20 pm

With the amazing conditions yesterday I ventured out to WP.. I started of with some nice fresh squid.. they were a but quiet but I found the light colours did the damage..
with the sun setting and the new moon rising I thought it would be a good time to try for some gummies. Pulled out my new combo (shimano, of course) and cast out with 1 fresh squid head on 2 size 6 hooks..
Bam, rod bent and I thought I was on a nice gummy.. to my surprise I was shocked when I pulled in a monster whiting.. 48cm, she was one fat fish.. 700g. I was shocked.. only I am capable of catching something that crazy.. on a gummy rod??? On a Terez with PE of 3-5 haha

I managed a few rays, a thresher, a 7 giller, a monster whiting but no gummies.. that's fishing for you!! Love it. Until next time... hope wind stays down!

Of course I talk to my self while fishing.. sometimes I need expert advice! :fishing:

Well done on the channel whiting. Plenty of gummies in WesternPort at the moment.

Get a 'barra' baitcast setup and rig it for Whiting. Handles the heavier sinkers whilst maintaining sensitivity for the Whiting. You'll be surprised just how many you get when waiting for the bigger fish

Pretty sure whiting are a common occurance in WP but I may be wrong.

I'm more interested in this Thresher Shark you caught. Any pics?

It's pretty exciting for newbies to land a decent whiting Kadmium. Would love to see the thresher pic too.
