What a tough day.

Post by MsShimano » Sun Feb 26, 2017 7:17 pm

Beautiful day out on WP.. took the bar crusher out... Tough day on the water.. Chasing whiting and all I could manage was some decent size Flatties, 1 whiting that I didn't catch Hahahaha and some nice gummy bait
(And I pretty much bagged out on the big puffers! Hahaha) went every mark you can think off from top end back to quail bank etc.
Overall a nice day at least I was out on the water.. that's fishing though. I entered the whiting comp next weekend but yet to still catch my first whiting... dunno what I'm doing wrong. I had the best fresh bait. Live pippies. Can't get better then that...
Bring on next weekend!!!

No squid or muscle? What depths did you fish, tide, burley, rigs etc?

Nice report with a good catch. You are right about the bait. A month ago I was doing alright with the whitings and was using live pippies as well

Where do I start? Used live mussels and live pippies, caught a squid and cut him up fresh. Also had some fresh cuttlefish.. bait sorted. Had some good berley. Fished 2 hours before and after tide change. Used a whiting assassin with a stradic 3000. Felt every nibble. Had a paternoster rig with a circle hook. It was a beautiful day... every other fish except the damn ting.
