Yeah. It was food grade from coles and it stayed frozen so I figured it's safe

hahaha atleast he was honest.
nice little feed there, the pike are usually a bit mushy from memory, ill never take them again
what does the goatfish taste like, i catch a few of them most times im out, might as well take them home and try them if they are good eating. i put them back usually cause they are such cool looking fish

Red mullet/ Goat fish are very highly regarded, we used to sell them for good prices back in the 90's, never really got many in the nets, but we looked after them, due to being popular.purple5ive wrote:hahaha atleast he was honest.

They are a very soft flesh and need to be handled with care once dispatched, they squash really easy, if hats any helppurple5ive wrote:cheers lads,

Pike cakes:
I didn't add the peas, and put a bit of fresh lime juice in. Tasted bloody good, the texture was a bit rubbery because the fish was pureed and held together with the egg. Next time I'll try and find something with a bit of a smokey flavour to put in there too, otherwise it was perfect. In future I'll be sure to keep a couple of pike to take home with me once I've got enough for bait.
