Hastings 14/3/16

Post by Scraglor » Mon Mar 14, 2016 6:19 pm

hi all,

Just a quick report.

Went out again on the whiting, today pippies were the bait of choice, with no other baits being touched. Could have caught as many fish as you wanted today, with the two of us collecting our bag within a few hours of hitting the water.

With the tide running out most of the morning, the key was to find a drop off, near one of the grassy banks that drains off to be completely dry, and sitting at the bottom of the bank collecting the whiting as the rolled off the mud flats. A small amount of berley held them in the area, without attracting plagues of leather jackets (we had to move a couple of times to lose them) We had planned to try and get a few channel whiting at the change of tide, however we were already back at the ramp before the low. No complaints. )

The better half has officially cut me off on bringing home KGW, as I am now stocked for the winter, so I am officially done on the whiting for the season. Now time to try and get into some squid. (and maybe a gummy or two!)
