Flinders Pier 16/01

Post by Freakazoid » Sat Jan 16, 2016 10:41 pm

Fished Flinders pier this arvo til dark. I promised my other half that I'd get her on to her first squid after numerous donut efforts closer to home, so the stakes were high! Lol
Luckily as the sun started hiding behind the hill she landed a nice edible-model squid  Then as I went to the car to get some scissors I'd left behind, there was another three sitting in the bag when I returned! Followed by one more 10 minutes later! So fair to say I've taught her ok and more importantly I'm out of the doghouse :notworthy:

The pier was pretty packed, quite a few really small bait size squid landed by others during that nice sunset period.
Jig that worked best today was a red foil Harimitsu AR 3.5 and another similar dark red foil jig with a deep purple cloth, not sure on the make/model

Glad you caught some dinner too

I've only been there a handful of times, but I've gotta say it's been that busy if not worse every time I've been on nice days. Veeeery popular spot, but it's easy to see why. Bloke I spoke to in the car park had driven over 1.5hrs to fish there for the arvo :fish22:

It's usually fairly busy, only time I've seen it very quiet was weekdays in the cooler months. It would've been feral there once news of Dezza's kingfish spread.

Saw you two fishing there and my girlfriend was fishing next to you for a bit. Busiest I've seen it for a while and we go down every weekend. Too hard to find a spot and was pretty windy so we didn't hang around long. Glad you got a few!

Saw a big flatty while snorkelling there today!
