stoney point
Headed down to stoney point caravan park monday morning, every october a group of us fish for a trophy dedicated to one of our workmates who died of a heart attack, a small bloke with a big heart loved fishing but always caught the smallest so who ever catches the smallest snapper wins the trophy.
Monday was a shocker not a lot of fishing but a lot of drinking was carried out a couple of us hit the pier for 2 squid but when the rain came back to the unit.
Tuesday wind still blowing we decided to head to mt martha we launched at the new marina great facility but $20 to launch some great boats moored there. We fished close in due to the wind some big arches on the sounder but no takers plenty of small flathead around the 30cm mark one guy called in a 19 cm pinky which could have made him a 2 time winner but tuna tube stepped up and had snagged one at 17 cm he was excited at that,
I decided to pull some hard bodies close in to the rocks in around 5.5 mt of water a rapala husky and a sebille as we came around the corner one of my mates got hit and it was a ripper 46 cm flathead but soon the beer back at stoney point was calling.
Wed we woke to a ripper no wind we packed up and launched we could only fish till 1300 hrs I headed to my favourite spot off elizabeth island I had the tube with me and he was soon on a good fish but he wanted to get some gopro footage and ended up dropping the fish I gave him heaps.
2 mins later he is on again a nice fish mid fifties the whack my rod buckles and a pull in a ripper 60 cm. By now I am in a group of 4 boats the other blokes from work and plenty of fish being caught me and the tube ended up with 5, 3 in the mid 30, one mid fifties and a 60 cm. The boat 50 mt to my left had a good day 10 fish 6 mid 30, s but 2 rippers at 72cmand 2 mid fifties,
There was also some ripper siler trevali caught the photo was the best one its next to a 42 cm snapper caught by another workmate.
We were off the water at 1330 fish cleaned boats packed ready for the drive home we are all ready planning next years trip we had a great few days.

Re: stoney point
Well done on the report and the fish nude up, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them
