Hastings 22/1/17

Post by Scraglor » Sun Jan 22, 2017 9:09 pm

Hi All,

Got to the ramp at 5am this morning, to be confronted with the biggest line I have seen all summer. Have been chasing the squid lately, but the better half had requested fish for dinner, so whiting were the target today.

TBH, I have had an average season on the ting this summer, with a few good sessions, and a few average ones. Within 2 minutes of anchoring we had a buckle, with a nice 34cm pinky coming on board. from there it was fairly steady for the next 2.5 hours until we headed in, the final tally being 10 pinkies, all 34/35cm, and 16 whiting most 40-44cm. Not a huge haul, but we were happy, and it was a short, productive session, seeing us being back on land before it got too hot out on the water.

Where did you end up finding them?

I launched Hastings yesterday as well, didnt manage to find the ting (probably because i suck), did get a few decent pinkies, gummies, flathead and gurnard.

That is one fat looking whiting on top! Good work mate, we launched at Stony Point at 6.00 (never seen so many boats in my life) tried all around the base of middle spit and flinders for whiting till about 11.00. Nothing but small flat ties and toadies. So many toadies....

Cheers gents. Yeah, the ting were nice solid fish, in really good condition. Theyve been a bit hit or miss for me this year, so it was good to get onto a patch of them.
