patto river 19/4
Hey guys writing my first proper report
headed down to patto up to the gravel end of the car park at 0700 high tide was supposedly at 0557
stayed there until 1030,
and was quite happy with the session started with a bit of berley and within minutes of baiting a bit of chicken soaked in tuna oil was getting alot of bites about half hour later got a bream 22cm and within 5 mins Another at 27cm both were catch and release.
for about an hour after was nothing but bait pickers and out of no where both rods started screaming
somehow managed to hook both fish and ended up with mullet ( looks to be )
both a fair size straight in the esky and will be plated tonight
couldn't get any pictures at the time due to the rain and my paranoia made me leave the phone in the car ( 3 insurance claims on phones this year alone with can't Blame me )
I did stop at the first servo and put the mullet on my boot with my kmart fish ruler and took a snap of it undercover
heres the mullet

Re: patto river 19/4
Well done, I struck out there yesterday, so good to see someone getting something
Re: patto river 19/4
Well done, they look like sea mullet not the usual yellow eye mullet. Sea mullet are not often caught on bait.

Cheers guy
oh wow well I better put it down as lucky shot
would love to hook them again
was great fun on the 2-4kg rod
I did read about the bait and I was surprised so I thought it'd be a yellow eye but apparently not

Re: patto river 19/4
they are amazing fish, its the best time to catch them now, I caught one last year which went up to 40cm, surprisingly large. Ill be trying my luck there on Monday, lets hope I get some bream, if not a few of those big ones would be great too.
Best so far: 47cm aus salmon, 41cm mullet, 40cm king George whiting , 38cm Bream, 35cm flathead, 33 cm pinky, squid 20cm. 2 sting rays caught caught, 1 took a rod as a souvenir. Need to catch snapper... :fish11:

I forgot to weigh them but I'd say they're just over a kilo each but my oh my what a fight they put up
I ended up plating it with my own recipe I made up on the go
and put it on a bed of rice not bad really but there was something missing so next time if I ever cook this fish or something similar will be trying worcesterschire sauce with a hint of Tabasco
