There have been previous posts of Salmon school swimming around that area, being caught on lures. I believe a few have also targeted flatties but not sure how successfully.

well guys and girls had a bit of fun was using pilchards and prawns , blokes where catching good size salmon 18 inches plus in size half way along the pier in the gutter on squid , but not much luck here = young bloke got 2 salmon aprox 18 inches droped one about 2 feet bellow the pier the other one got on the pier and spat the hook and fliped back in , got 1 = 42 cm flatty but there was heaps of people fishing so went to mordiallock pier got 3 pinky snapper . 1 mullet approx 12 inches and 2 toadys ..... apart from the flatty all fish are still swiming all fish caught on prawns except 1 salmon on pilchard ...cheers guys
