Mussels locations and Lakes Entrance update

Post by FishHunter81 » Wed Sep 26, 2018 7:44 pm

Hi guys. Just got back from lakes entrance and the fishing was so slow. The metung area was dead as other than small bream. Tambo not good either. Decided to hit surf beach knowing I'd get salmon. Caught 3 35cm in 5 mins at sunrise tuesday. On way back stopped at Reeves landing and had crabs taking bait. Decided to take some mussels off rocks. Wife has cooked them in tomato base sauce. So good. So I must ask. Does anyone know where a place is to get mussels close to moenington peninsula. Cheers.

Don't think you're allowed to collect shellfish etc from the intertidal zone in PPB so you'd be better off buying them
2015/16 Fisting Victoria Species comp total: 289cm
Brown Trout: 37cm
Flathead: 51cm; Squid: 36cm; Australian Salmon: 51cm; Snapper 46cm; Silver Trevally 23cm; KGW: 45cm

liters is right intertidal zone off limits in PPB, I buy mine from 6 to 8 bucks a bag at the fish mongers. or a large box when I'm at Portarlington pier early morning when the mussel farm boat docks.

I went for a fish u the Lake today. 1 KGW on the first cast, only 31cm, then 2 School whiting, then zippo . So just a sign of things to come as it warms up. Should be a few flatties around within a month.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
