Yes, it can only photosynthesise in moonlight
So why hasnt it disapated with all the hot weather we had lately
Or had it happened in last 3 days when we had the rainy days

That was sarcasm smile. Maybe only a full moon would allow any photosynthesis of any algae

It has been getting worse over the 3 months.
You can see in the last Video I did there around 6 weeks ago it was getting bad.
Up around Staten Island it was that thick that the residents would struggle to get their boats off there moorings. It is definitely a lot worse in all the dead ends of the arms than in the main straight.
The fish started to turn up dying Tuesday week ago so this was before the heavy rains from last weekend and before they shut the gates for 4 days.
Haven't seen any Perch going belly up yet....At least ☺

Are you able to physically temove it or is there too much or fisheries to act?

You only tend to get weed overgrowth in waterways if there is heavy fertiliser / nutrient (and possibly sewerage) runoff. Definitely one for the EPA to investigate.

Way too much to remove.
You would need a Barge with a Crane at a minimum

In the patto river this morning and the water was very muddy. Normally would clean my fish at the ramp using river water but not today. I wonder if this fresh push will do anything?

Probably take weeks to clear up
