Dole bludging (day 1)

Post by johnnycjay » Thu Apr 20, 2017 4:15 pm

Well whilst on gardening leave I thought I should wet a line.

Took the 4 year old down to Seaford Pier after kinder.

First cast got taken by surprise by a thumping bite and pulled a 35cm mullet!

Next two casts resulted in 2 Salmon both around 28cm.

That's where the story ends sadly as Ms 4 year old threw a tantrum and we were back in the car.

Cast 15 metres out from the end of the Jetty with a paternoster rig, small hooks and Pipis for bait and you'll catch fish.

If you lasted more than 10 minutes with a 4 year old you have done something right.

You have sorted you spare time out well, happy fishing, and gardening eventually, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I actually forgot how well Mullet fight, it was quite fun actually. I was so pissed that the young lady wasn't into it. I suspect fishing was pretty good today in all areas due to the approaching front. I have been keeping an eye on the Pressure and whilst not definitive there is certainly a good relationship between high pressure and good fishing. With this front pushing in I would say today is prime time for fishing. Thoughts?

Sounds like a short term but if fun, give her time and maybe she'll grow into fishing.

I find a rising barometer is always good, a few additional factors help. The 60 mins prior to a storm hitting can be like throwing dynamite into the water, gets the fish on the chew. Usually get wet in the process & worth it.

You forgot to take a tantruming 4 year old.
Fish are like women, they bite at the most inopportune time.

Cheers
