Hi all, I'm still new to the forum so apologies if ive posted this in the wrong place just thought id share my experience fishing the patterson river.

Headed down there at about 8:30pm at low tide and fished underneath the nepean hwy/railway bridge using soft plastics and after dealing with countless snags on the rocks and losing almost a full packet of jigheads managed to catch a nice 37cm bream against the pylon in the middle of the river.

Caught within about 30min of arrival and left soon after due to losing all my jigheads to the notorious rocks. A good night fishing despite the snags and boat traffic. :a_goodjob:

Cheers Chris

Nice going mate, too bad about losing your sp's.
You did well to get one, it can be a tough gig on the Patto.
I haven't caught one on SP's either yet so you must be doing something right.
Cheers

Ive given it another crack since with no luck on the sp's and lost a few more hahaha but thats fishing. Do baits tend to work better there?

the river can be a tough place to fish with plastics. I've only pulled a handful of bream from many attempts (bay trout though can be in plentiful). Mainly around the moorings opposite the boat ramps.

My opinion is that bait works better, but you will generally catch smaller fish and have to deal with small mullet and toadies nicking it.

Yeah Im not sure how productive that spot is when compared to other bream fishing spots in melbourne, Ive see people mention the maribyrnong so I think thats next on the list to test out the sp's.

One day I may try for Silver Ghosts down there, but that's another tough one to crack.
