Newish to sw and want a few suggestions for around Oliver's hill.

Post by Tangles_1 » Mon Mar 14, 2016 3:36 pm

Hi there everyone, been a long time since I have been on here. Do a lot of fw fishing but since little one came along haven't done a lot. Recently moved to frankston and have been trying my luck at Mornington, Portsea, stoney point, dromana etc etc with mixed success. Want to head to Oliver's hill in an hour or so and have a go off the rocks and that funny little pier. Have had some success at the other places with baits and soft plastics and I'm pretty keen to have a go at some more salmon and maybe flathead and was just curious about the really simple thins like jig head size and what lures, I have not had a go at lures at all in sw yet. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not a bad squid spot in the low light. The salmon come through once in a while. I guess there would be flathead and pinkies there too but i've never fished for them.

With that SW I would be targeting pinkies

Haha thanks guys. I popped down for an hour to check it out and was getting salmon. I'll do a decent session there ASAP.

I have actually been a member for years, just haven't been around for ages, by thanks Kev.

Bay size, nothing special but fun. I use the rod I have for trout, 6 pound braid with 8 pound leader.
