Met with Shazdogg at kananook creek at 12:00 midday, planning to spend 5 hours on the water.
We launched the boat and headed out of the creek, keen as can be to throw some lines out and catch some fish, we headed straight out to a bit of reef, very very slowly i should say as im on my restricted license for the next 2 weeks meaning i have a 10 knot speed limit.
We fished the first bit of reef with no joy, after casting for 20 minutes we moved on over to another bit of reef and trolled some lures on hopes of some salmon or snook, after not much action, we started a drift over the reef trying to pick up some squid, within the first cast or so, i was on, then again then again, 3 squid in a row, then after shazdogg made a jig change i stopped catching anything and shazdogg was cating all the squid
It went quiet after a catching about 12-14 squid so we then headed off to another reef to try pick up some more and not long after Shazdogg was on again, , now i cant remember exactly who caught how many there, but not long after we moved out deeper and fished with soft plastics and bait, after catching and releasing a few flathead we moved to another reef i know where we anchored up and started a berley trail.
At this location shazdogg picked up 3 pinkys and 1 banjo, maybe more that i'm forgetting!
Once the action dies off there we made one more move back to the reef where we caught most of our squid and tried out luck trolling once more, shazdog picked up 1 pike and then we got the call from my dad to head in, so in we went.
all in all, was a great day on thew water even though the fishing was slow, we ended the day with a good little feed of squid and shazdogg kept 2 pinkys for a feed.
