Quick session at webb dock this morning

Post by Sebb » Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:10 pm

A mate got there first 6am and I got there 7:30am. Strong north west wind, low tide. Was not expecting much.
I got 36.5cm pinkie, my mate caught two pinkies around 25cm, 22cm silver trevally and 23cm aussie salmon. All on bait (garlic marinated chicken breast).
Not even a tap on plastic.
That 36.5cm pinkie was on #2 baitholder hook and 8lb line. 2-4kg rod and 2500 reel. Good fun.

Saw three guys with 3x pinkies around 40cm.

Been a while since the last time I went fishing. Was a good short session.

Do you eat the fish from there or do you throw them back in.

I will ask the guy from fishing mad, if it is safe to eat fish from there at this time of the year. I suppose many people eat fish caught in docks and Yarra river.

I believe the snapper there aren't residence to yarra/docks. They migrate and swim around.
The ones to be cautious about to eat are the resident fish. Like the bream and mulloway, that live (and feed) for years there.

I've eaten fair bit of fish from webb dock.
I'm still alive haven't got a third eye. Lol.

That is all i wanted to know, nice looking fish by the way. This is the time of the year that whole area is full of large snapper.I haven't been that way since the closed station pier to fishos. A kayaking in that area would be good.Parking wight be bit of a problem and finding where to launch the Kayak aswell.

webb dock and princess pier, and in between, is great for kayak fishing.
Pick north wind and its sweet. I've fished on kayak there few times.
Park here next to Sandridge yacht club, free all day. Along the The Blvd also free all day.
Easy short paddle along the rocks or to princess pier. The x mark usually holds pinkies and flatties.
