As long as you are happy with what you got and had a go, it doesn't matter if it wasn't perfect.
Doing it everyday certainly helps

Thanks, mixing flour and beer in 5 mins.
Yup pretty happy a first time attempt, with more practice I should be ok. Which means I should catch more gummy
Wow! looks delicious, can't beat that especially when its so fresh. Im about to cook up a few of the fatties I caught today certainly not to the same standard as yours, but I'm going to try soaking half of it in sprite for a few hours before bread crumbing it, I've heard it works so I'm interested to try.
Never heard of this. Let us know how it goes. I might try.Irishfisherman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 7:40 pmI'm going to try soaking half of it in sprite for a few hours before bread crumbing it, I've heard it works so I'm interested to try.
Station pier and all other landbased around there were packed with people. And was very quiet this morning. You decided well for not going.
Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised by the results. The sprite soaked fillets were firmer, flakier and slightly sweeter overall the difference was fairly subtle but I reckon its worth trying. I believe the fact that sprite is carbonated means that it breaks apart the flesh a little bit? Not entirely sure to be honest. But I also think it somewhat dulled the fishy taste. As a person who likes that flavour its probably a negative for me, but overall I think I still preferred it. If you want to give it a go yourself I would recommend using a zip lock bag to soak them, as it will prevent the sprite from loosing its fizz as quickly.Sebb wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 7:43 pmNever heard of this.
