If you don't mind what you catch and the size then go to barwon, The river is absolutely loaded with small salmon and mullet, some big trevs too but are harder to find and more easily targeted off a boat.

Take some soft plastics and metals. I like berkley pumpkin seeds or nuclear chicken, shaky shads or prawns.

You can pump baits there as well, flick metals for salmon.

I haven't fished there for awhile but that always used to be the case. If just the tas ferry us there was ok to fish but if a cruise ship is docked they wouldn't allow me in there :P

I think the pier is closed only when a cruise ship is in.....otherwise you can get access to the end of the pier. I have been on there even when the Spirit is docked but not recently however.

I also heard of a few nice Snappers being caught off the end of the pier this season so far.
