Werribee river flathead

With the weather warming up, I'm looking to go and target some big flathead in ppb. I have previously read a fishing book saying that some large flathead can be caught at the mouth of werribee river during the warmer months. I know near koroit creek some decent flatties to 2kg are caught, but has anyone had any luck with much larger specimens in werribee river.

Hi mate,

I have fished that location a lot, long time ago though (years) day & night time, all sorts of tides & always struggled there.

I hope another member can say something different. It's a nice quiet location, just never produced for me.

I've seen plenty of people fishing there too, but not landing anything.

I bet it's just me DOH !!

yep my dad got 2 huge 70 cm flattys in winter while chaseing the mullet on the Werribee south jetty

I landed a 750gram specimen I think 40 cm one day in summer, but that was the only fish that day. Left pretty happy with that.

A couple of years ago a young boy won the werribee south flathead comp off the beach at the mouth off the river , as everyone else was out in there boats his fish was over 2 kg.
