Werribee South Boat Ramp

Post by fishhead » Sat Jul 02, 2011 10:52 am

Went down to Werribee South boat ramp Thursday 3.30-5.30pm.
It was packed with people, but managed to squeeze in.
Mullets were on the bite & everyone was having a ball using bread & chicken as bait.
Will try there again this arvo on high tide but will also be targeting bream.

YES! very crowded. witnessed a few punch-up.
Anyway, went down there again Sat arvo & it was standing room only.
Big mullets were biting b/t 3-5pm.
Went back Sunday but only caught 2.
No breams were biting at all.

The mullets were fairly large, most were b/t 30-40cm.
They were nearly as big as the salmons we caught the other week.

I caught some big mullet (instead of baitfish size lol) for the first time a couple of months ago. They were caught from the surf on bits of squid. The ones you catch are they yellow eye mullet or sea mullet?

They were yellow eye mullets & the biggest I've seen for a long time. (I should start taking pics of my fish caught)
I use small bread pieces coated with curry or tumeric powder. The mullets just love yellow colored bread. Everyone that go to Werribee boat ramp now use this bait.
