Finally got out WS, and had a ripper

So after 6 weeks of my schedule and weather never aligning, finally got a full day on the water on Sunday.
Dropped the boat at werribee south at 9am and headed straight for the spit. Have been doing well there of late even taking gummies last outing sonis as good a spot as any to start.
The area didn't disappoint. We moved around a few times, burleyed hard, never really got a frenzy, but consistently were catching big sizes.
The days catch included 20+ whiting, many upwards of 40cm. Several flatties with 3 of them between 51-55cm and some big squid.
However, we were also bringing in what felt like a banjo every 3rd fish which was very annoying. Bringing them in on the 4 pound i was using for whiting is certainly entertaining, but rerigging after all my prepared whiting rigs are destroyed was not so fun.
Despite this, a bloody good day out. Hopefully get a.few.days in over Easter, then we head to Eden for Anzac weekend. Staying near two fold bay boat ramp there. If anyone has any tips for first time boating in the area that would be great.
