Altona Fishing

Post by howpar » Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:21 am

Hi All
I live in Shepparton and would like to start fishing in Port Phillip Bay in the Altona, Werribee area. Could you please give some advice regarding the better launching and fishing areas. I have a 4.8 Savage Cuddy. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Alex

G'day howpar, there's a launching facility right at Altona. with good facilities, 4 ramps but it costs $20 for a 24 hr permit. Plenty of flattys in Altona bay and if your prepared to Berle up, soak a bait and work through the banjos there's gummies as well in about 9 m of water has been good for me. Pinkies have been around. I'm not sure about whitting I don't target them.
There's a ramp at Werribee it's pretty good, I don't bother going there it's a further drive for me. Depending on your boat it's only a 10 - 15 minute blast from Altona anyway.

I have a mate who launches out from Altona a lot and often sends me pics of good catches. Pinkies, squid, salmons, flatties
